Fragrance Tips - Liz's advice on how to get the most out of your favourite Chanel perfume
Are you a fragrance lover?
Some people have many different fragrances and will select what to wear based on their mood and the occasion.
Others have one signature scent that they might wear everyday for years or even decades.
Some feel naked without perfume or cologne, whereas others only wear fragrances on special occasions.
Our fragrances are a subtle way of expressing our personality and are often associated with fond memories of special occasions.
We chat to Liz, Kiana Beauty's Chanel expert, for her advice on how to make the most of your favourite fragrance, whether your preference is for something big and bold, or light and delicate.
The best places to apply fragrance are:
- the wrist
- behind the knees
- and even on your clothes.
Avoid spraying fragrances on the neck, as they can sensitise the skin to the sun and over time, this can result in brown spots on your skin.
Layer, layer, layer.
Many Chanel fragrances are also available as other products.
Using a bath soap or shower gel is a great start and then you can apply a body lotion, cream or oil to clean skin, before applying your scent.
This will add a layer to your favourite fragrance so that is lingers longer, giving you little moments of happiness when you smell this scent throughout the day or night.
The iconic Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Essentials for the Weekend contains a travel-sized Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum and Velvet Body Oil.
These contain 20ml of your favourite fragrance and are small enough to fit into your handbag to carry with you all day, making a quick touch-up nice and easy.
The container is strong and sturdy enough to withstand bumps, and the twist & spray mechanism means it won't leak.
The volume is also small enough so that they can be carried in your hand luggage on planes.
It's really important to store your perfumes appropriately to ensure they retain their original scent for the longest possible time.
Firstly, fragrances should not be stored in the bathroom. Bathrooms have too much humidity, heat and moisture which can affect your fragrance.
Likewise, storing your fragrances on a window ledge exposes them to too much sunlight and heat, two enemies of fragrances.
The best place for your fragrances is somewhere cool without too much sunlight, and with a relatively consistent temperature. Somewhere like a shelf in your wardrobe or in a drawer is good.
For the daytime, I love Chanel No 5 L'EAU Eau de Toilette Spray.
It makes a great start to my day. I feel the citrus in this fragrance energises my senses.
When I'm heading out at nighttime, my favourite perfume is Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum Intense Spray.
It is a playful, oriental fragrance that makes me feel very glamorous.
Every woman should own a fragrance that makes them feel glamorous when they wear it.
