When Carrie Bickmore took centre stage to accept her Gold Logie this year, few could have foreseen the touching tribute she gave to her deceased husband Greg by donning a beanie and helping raise awareness for brain cancer.
"...I want to get the nation talking about brain cancer. It receives next to no funding which is ludicrous. Because without funding more people are going to die and as I just said eight out of 10 people that are diagnosed will die from this disease." Bickmore said during her passionate speech.
"So anyone, Sam, Kochie, Karl, Lisa, whoever’s on TV tomorrow whack on a beanie if you’re going to school tomorrow, kids, put a beanie on. If you’re going to work put a beanie on. Take a pic of yourself with the hashtag #BeaniesForBrainCancer".
Like the rest of Australia, the team at Kiana Beauty were inspired by Carrie's words and heeded the call to arms - wearing our beanies in support of 'Beanies For Brain Cancer'.
We are all for supporting worthy causes, which is why Kiana Beauty Melbourne will be donating 5% of all sales (excl. postage) during the month of May to help fund research into brain cancers via the Neuroscience Foundation.
Every 5 hours someone is diagnosed with brain cancer and 8 out of 10 people will die from brain cancer. Cancer touches the lives of all of us and within the team at Kiana Beauty we have an even more personal connection to this cause.
Our resident Estée Lauder Expert Glenda has a nephew who was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour when he was only 6 years old and given just a few months life expectancy.
But following research and new treatment, he has just celebrated his 18th birthday, has his licence and looking forward to the future.
Supporting research into treatment of diseases such as brain cancer is vitally important in improving the survival rate and quality of life of those who have been affected - and by contributing a portion of sales, Kiana Beauty will help to do our part in tackling this disease.
