This year, Clinique celebrates 49 years of skincare. The original idea behind the brand was that "Great Skin Can Be Created". This was quite revolutionary, given that at the time, the general attitude was that those people with good skin had lucky genes, and those who didn't, well, didn't.
With almost 50 years of beauty under its belt, we thought we'd take a closer look at some of Clinique's cult products, those that have truly struck a chord with people and reside in bathrooms worldwide.
Originally launched in 1968 as one of Clinique's first skincare products, this little yellow bottle is instantly recognisable. It is estimated that a bottle is sold somewhere in the world every 4.87 seconds!
As well as providing all-day moisture, it works to strengthen the skin's barrier, protecting it from pollution and the environment.
The original lotion was reformulated in 2013, but the texture remains the same. Dramatically Different is now available in a lotion or cream for dry to very dry skin, as well as a gel for combination skin.
Clinique love colour, and the Clinique Chubby Sticks range is testament to that.
The original product in the range was the Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm (now with 15 shades in the cutest names like Pudgy Peony and Whole Lotta Honey). It was so successful, that Clinique have since launched Chubby Sticks for eyes cheeks, lashes, contouring and highlighting, and even more lip products.
The Chubby Sticks look like crayons, and are just as easy to apply.
Just draw on, blend if needed, and you're ready! Perfect for people who don't wear heaps of makeup, but just want some colour, right through to makeup addicts.
We love the variety of colours, and the fact that they're portable enough for travel or the handbag.
I don't know about you, but I'm not exactly a morning person, so anything that helps me look more ready, is a winner in my books.
The relatively new Pep-Start skincare range gives skin a quick and easy boost so you can then get on with your day.
The original product in the range is the Pep-Start Eye Cream. It brightens the eye area, hydrates and reduces puffiness, helping you look more awake.
Now there's also a Pep-Start Hydroblur Moisturizer which blurs skin imperfections, leaving your skin smooth and ready for makeup. And the Pep-Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser removes dirt and makeup so your skin glows. The latest product is the Pep-Start HydroRush Moisturizer SPF 15 which provide sun protection and all day hydration.
Removing your makeup at the end of the day is one of those necessary life duties that grown-ups have to bear. The Clinique Take The Day Off range makes this job a whole lot easier.
These purple packaged products (try saying that three times fast!) gently and effectively dissolve makeup and eye makeup. And it actually works on long-wearing makeup as well as waterproof mascara, without irritating the skin or eyes.
There are six different products in the range, with a formulation to suit everyone.
Our favourite is the Cleansing Balm which transforms from a solid balm, to a silky fluid oil, almost like magic.
In 1976, Clinique was the first prestige beauty company to develop a skincare range specifically for the needs of men. And the Clinique Skin Supplies For Men range still looks after men's skin worldwide.
Like women, men are encouraged to find their skin type, and then choose products to address those concerns, including dryness, blemishes and wrinkles.
The men's range includes products for shaving, cleansing, hydrating and protecting.
Basically everything a guy needs to look after their skin.
With so many iconic products, some which have been around for decades and withstood the test of time, and some which incorporate the latest technology, Clinique is still a beauty brand to be reckoned with.
