The new scent of Australia: Kiana Beauty welcomes Goldfield & Banks Australia and speaks to Dimitri Weber, its founder.
Our Kiana Beauty team are constantly on the lookout for exciting new brands to bring to you. With so many brands in the beauty space, it can be difficult to find something that really stands out from the crowd.
One of our loyal customers, Kate, is a perfume aficionado, and when she told us about a new fragrance brand called Goldfield & Banks Australia, our ears pricked up. Once we looked into it, we were truly excited. And after we met with Dimitri Weber, the founder of Goldfield & Banks Australia, we knew we just had to have it!
Goldfield & Banks Australia is a luxury perfume company that celebrates the unrelenting spirit of Australia. Dimitri is a Belgian-French native who moved to Australia and was surprised that there were no luxury Australian fragrances being made here with all our quality natural essences. So using his extensive knowledge and experience in French fragrances, he created this distinctive and sophisticated range.
We spoke to Dimitri to find out why he loves fragrances so much, and what makes Goldfield & Banks Australia so special.
Dimitri Weber, founder of Goldfield & Banks Australia
Hi Dimitri. We are genuinely excited to be stocking your baby, the Goldfield & Banks Australia fragrances.
Firstly, could you tell us a little about yourself and your background?
Born from a Flemish mother and French father, I lived most of my life in Belgium and France. Since I was a little boy, I would always choose the fragrances of my mum and later of my school teachers, friends and professionals.
I was lucky to start my career working at YSL in the mid 90s, and after this beautiful experience, I have worked with Narciso Rodriguez and Issey Miyake fragrances where I have learned everything about the world of fragrances and the art of creating.
I have been a brand ambassador and organise trainings, press conferences and consult for many brands such as Tom Ford, Cartier and L’Oréal Prestige.
Fragrances can make you travel and can take you on a journey. I like the creativity in developing fragrances and the level of excellence it requires.
I like the rigorous work and discipline that goes along with creating that results in a perfect perfume, packaging and environment. Everything needs to be consistent and it’s that part, the striving for the best, that I love about fragrances.
It’s part of the journey and then you make people dream because everything fits so perfectly.
Legend has it that sandalwood, which is an iconic Australian native ingredient, grows on fields of gold.
I was surprised when moving to Australia that there wasn’t any luxury perfume available made in Australia and featuring native essences.
So I started discovering all the essences and richness this country possesses, and little by little, I started creating Goldfield & Banks Australia which pays tribute to the extraordinary beauty of Australia and its botanical kingdom.
The brand also pays tribute to the noble Joseph Banks, the first botanist.
We are in love with your distinctive packaging. Tell us a little about how it came about and what it represents.
The bottles represent a sunny and bright day in Australia, ocean blue, forest green, sand dunes, the outback.
The wooden cap debossed with the logo is timber and reflects a smouldering piece of wood after a bushfire.
The ring is in gold and represents the gold mining history of Western Australia, and the edges of the labels on the bottles reflect the edges of the Banksia leaves.
All women and men who are Australia lovers, and are seduced by the confidential niche culture.
All people who value a good quality fragrance with unique essences locally crafted, but that equals the French quality and expertise.
Goldfield & Banks is for a discerning customer who will wear this fragrance for pleasure.
Try your fragrance always on the skin. Try it in an outside area, in open air so you will have a more objective result.
Give yourself a couple of seconds for the alcohol to evaporate and discover the fragrance step by step.
Goldfield & Banks Australia fragrances all have a Sunrise, a Summit and a Sunset, and like any day, it takes a few hours to evolve.
And finally, ask your partner if he or she loves the fragrance as you might want to share it!
We would like to extend a warm thank you to Dimitri for taking the time to chat with us, and also for creating such luxurious and high quality fragrances that represent Australia and all its natural gorgeousness.

It's hard to believe that Chanel No. 5 is 96 years old. Yes, you read right, 96 years old.
Launched in 1921 as Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel's first fragrance, it was a revolutionary product which smelt unlike any perfume that had come before it.
The magic ingredient? Aldehydes.
Aldehydes had only been recently isolated by chemists, but because they were so strong, no perfumer had dared to use them.
It is thought that Chanel's perfumer, Ernest Beaux, added an unusually large amount of aldehydes to the fifth sample (perhaps accidentally), and Chanel No. 5 was born.
Given that the fragrances in that era were all based on florals, Chanel No. 5 was distinctively different, and an immediate success. It changed everything known about fragrance at... 🡒 Continue Reading
How is it March already, I hear you say? This year is travelling at lightning speed.
We're all digitally hyper-connected and the lines between home and work are blurred. More than ever, we need to make a conscious effort to be present in the moment and have real connections with our loved ones.
One of the most powerful connections we can have with our loved ones is to make them smile. Stav, fragrance lover and Co-Director of Kiana Beauty was asked... 🡒 Continue Reading
How do you say thank you on Mother's Day? Someone who carried you for nine months, gave birth to you, fed you, read you bedtime stories, wiped your nose when it dripped and gave you endless cuddles and kisses. Now that we are mums ourselves, we have a new appreciation for mums (and dads!) and all that they do.
Fragrances are more than just a scent. They allow you to enter a world of dreams, evoke beautiful memories, or transport you back... 🡒 Continue Reading
